Phonetics is one of the oldest and the most essential branches of the linguistic. It studies the spoken aspects of languages. Its subject is a scientific analysis of the entire system of oral means expressing thoughts and emotions of the speaker.

Phonetics is one of the
oldest and the most essential branches of the linguistic. It studies
the spoken aspects of languages. Its subject is a scientific analysis
of the entire system of oral means expressing thoughts and emotions
of the speaker.

It deals with the study of purely linguistic aspect of speech sounds with the analysis of the semantic functions of phonemes and other oral means of the language. |
It deals (studies) with the production, description and the classification of speech sounds. It is the oldest branch. |

Phonetics and Grammar
- Phonetics is closely connected with grammar by means of the system of rules.
- It is very helpful to pronounce correctly the plural forms of nouns, Past Indefinite and Past Participle of English regular verbs.
Phonetics and Lexicology
- The connection between them is due to the presence of stress in the right place we can distinguish nouns from verbs.
Phonetics and Stylistic
- First of all, it is connected with Stylistic through the intonation ( speech melody, sentence stress, rhythm, pauses, timber. Thus, they serve to express emotions. They help to distinguish manifold attitudes on the part of the speaker and author. It is connected through the repetition of the words, phrases as well.
The difference between phonetics and phonology
- Phonology concerns itself with system of phonemes, abstract cognitive units of speech sound or sign which distinguish the words of a language. Phonetics, on the other hand, concerns itself with the production, transmission, and perception of the physical phenomena which are abstracted in the mind to canstitute these speech sounds or signs.
