General linguistics and the study of language
General linguistics may be defined as a science of language. It is desirable to consider the difference between general linguistics as the science or scientific study of language and the study of individual languages. The latter study is more familiar to the majority of people, while the study of linguistics, at least, in its present form is less familiar.
In studying linguistics the scholars attempt to answer many questions about the nature of language. The following are basic:
