New Zealand (or Aotearoa – land of the long white cloud), truly is one of the most picturesque and photogenic places on earth. A small island nation of just over 4 million people, New Zealand is made up of two major land masses (North Island and South Island) and a number of smaller islands including Stewart Island located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The two main islands are divided by a 22km stretch of water called the Cook Strait.

New Zealand is located approximately 1,500km east of Australia and about 1,000km from the Pacific Islands. Due to its relative remoteness and being water locked, New Zealand was one of the last countries to be found and settled.

The country is made up of some of the worlds most spectacular landscapes, from vast mountain ranges, steaming volcanoes to sweeping coastlines. It is a natural playground for thrill seekers and adventurers and those who simply want to visit for the culture and landscapes.

New Zealand is a constitutional monarchy under England and while the Queen is the head of state, New Zealand effectively governs itself through its parliamentary system with a Prime Minister.

Despite the tropical location of the country in its territory, there are several first-class ski resorts.The largest ski resort of New Zealand - Fakapapa, located on the western slope of the volcano Ruapehu. With a difference in altitude 675 m working here for more than 20 lifts serving 40 trails of various difficulty. The resort is open from June to early November.Thurow is a ski resort on the southern slope of the volcano Ruapehu and is the second largest in the country. Vertical drop of 720 m In the plains and slopes here have been many trails for snowboarding. The season runs from June to October.

About 75% of native plants are endemic, among which the dwarf pine, moss, mountain herbs and Haast giant kauri, reaching a height of 70 m A unique avifauna of New Zealand Kiwi are flightless (three species), owl parrot Kakapo (the largest in the world) and the rare corncrake Tuckahoe. Nearly 10% of New Zealand took 12 national parks and wildlife reserves. Three national parks - Fiordland, Mt Cook and Westland - included in UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Auckland Domain Museum – located in the center of Oakland a museum is in one of the oldest parks of New Zealand.
